Let's Kill Hitler: Thoughts

I'm overall extremely fangirly satisfied with "Let's Kill Hitler"--breaking the summer Doctor Who hiatus.  Doctor Who has never let me down before, and this is no exception.  I really liked the overall plot of the episode, and am excited with next week's episode also.  But that's not what i'm here to talk about.  I wanna talk about not the Doctor, but River, Amy, and most importantly, Rory.  First:  River;  I can somewhat understand why people don't like River Song, well, actually, I can't, because I really like her.  I love the entire mystery of who she is and what she's like, what her relationship with the Doctor is like, and how her and her parents are going to react to each other from now on.  It was all a bit confusing, with Mel and her regeneration,(for one thing, Mel is someone whom I didn't like at all)  but it shows you where River actually "started" which helped diffuse a bit of the confusion of where she came from.  Second:  Amy;  even though I adore Amy, I didn't really think she was all that spectacular in the episode.  But the episode wasn't about her, so I guess I couldn't expect too much. (I do have quite high expectations for "The Girl Who Waited" however:  that's one episode that i'm going to be ticked if they mess it up) and Finally:  Rory;  I quite liked Rory in this episode.   Usually he's not the center of the fight, but the way he told Hitler to "shut up" made me smile.  It seems as the season gets deeper in, Rory does a little less dying, and a bit more heroic stuff;  which i'm glad of, because he used to be a bit helpless and awkward, which he seems to have gotten rid of.  Anyway, I loved tonight's episode, and can't wait for next week's :D

Also, I like the idea of a thoughts post, so i'm gonna do that quite often.  Oh, and here are some DW reviews:  http://www.youtube.com/user/TARDIStacular

School, Books, and Ballet.

So, I just got back from my school's orientation, which went well.  I got my locker and my books and stuff, and I ran around the school with my friends, which was fun.  I also got a lot of compliments on my hair--which I dyed red.  One of my friends even told me I looked like Amy Pond, which made me grin like an idiot, obviously [;  I start school on Monday, and i'm pretty excited.  I still have to finish Jane Eyre and Northanger Abbey, so when I go back to school, i'm going to start reading Doctor Who:  The Price of Paradise by Colin Brake and Paper Towns by John Green.  It's gonna be a pretty busy first week.  I'm going to be reading less, since I have classes, but i'll have something to occupy my time, so that's one of the reasons I don't detest school as much as others.  Tomorrow, i'm going to ask my grandma if I can hopefully take ballet, so i'm a bit scared that she might say no, because this is something that i've really got my heart set on.  Anyways, I have to start working on the first chapter of my Doctor Who fanfic tonight, so i'm excited about that.  Well, I think i've rambled enough, so i'm gonna go now.  Later♥

oh, and I'M A FRESHMAN NOW SO EXCITING ISN'T IT?!

The Adventure of the Strange Blue Box(Prelude)

This is the prelude to the story i've just started.  It's about Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes.  Hope you like it :)
__________________________________________________________________________________
Prelude

“So where to now?” asked Amy.  “Whatever you’d like!” the Doctor replied.  “Hmm, let’s see;” said Amy, “we’ve been to 1960’s Britain.”  “HA! And you thought I couldn’t get you to meet George Harrison! He’s been my mate for years!” said the Doctor.  Amy continued, “We had lunch with Shakespeare.” “Yes, yes! Very good cook, he is,” replied the Doctor, “although the chicken was a bit burnt…”  “And we stayed at Edgar Allen Poe’s house: all in the last week!” said Amy, “but where to now?” she pondered.  “Wait a second…” said Amy, running up to her room.  She snatched up her purse by her bed, and after rummaging around in it, found the book she was looking for, and ran back to the Doctor.  “What’s that there, Pond?” asked the Doctor.  “Sherlock Holmes,” replied Amy, holding up the novel and smiling.  “I’ve always loved the story; it’s one of the few books I’ve read over ten times.  So I was thinking…Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?” “Doyle?” questioned the Doctor, with a smirk.  “Yes, Doyle,” said Amy, “what’s wrong with him?”  The Doctor shrugged.  “Well I thought you would want to meet the actual Sherlock Holmes…”  Amy laughed.  “The actual Sherlock Holmes?  Are you mad?  He’s fictional, Doctor.  You’re only a time lord; you can’t make fictional characters real.”  “Of course I can’t, Pond,” said the Doctor, rolling his eyes, “but what on earth made you think Sherlock Holmes was fictional?”  “Well,” said Amy, “it might be the ‘this book is a work of fiction’ part on the back.”  “Rubbish! That’s why I never liked Doyle.  Thinks he can just take a man and create his life for him, with all these silly stories.  A Scandal in Bohemia? The Red-Headed League? All fake!” said the Doctor, flipping through the pages.  “Yes,” said Amy, raising her eyebrow, “that’s what fiction is:  fake.  Don’t you know that?”  “Of course I know that! The stories are fake, but Sherlock Holmes is absolutely not! He was real! A living, breathing man, living in the 1800’s! Doyle only claimed he was fake because they were enemies during their childhood.  Tried to get him back by stringing all of these absurd stories with his, apparently, fake name.  Amy cocked her head to one side. “So you’re trying to tell me that my childhood hero is actually real?”  “Haven’t you been listening? Of course he’s real!” said the Doctor, exasperatedly.  “Now come along, Pond,” said the Doctor, grinning, “We’re going to pay Mr. Holmes a little visit.”

Doctor What?

I was on YouTube a while back, and I was watching a Doctor Who video.  After the video was finished, I looked down at the top comments, and someone had said something about their favorite Doctor, and “their Doctor.”  I’ve never quite understood the concept of “my Doctor” and my favorite Doctor:  what’s the difference?  Is your Doctor supposed to be the one you started watching first, or the one who made the most impact on you?  It’s just overall confusing the heck out of me.  So I’ll just put this out there:  10&11.  My favorites.  The first episode of Doctor Who I saw was “Flesh and Stone” I believe.  So the first Doctor I have watched on television was Matt Smith.  At first, I used to refer to Eleven as “my Doctor”, since he was the first one I saw.  But then came David Tennant.  I had heard so much praise for the tenth Doctor, I thought, “Well, I better watch his episodes, since everyone is so fond of him.” I understand why now.  I absolutely ADORE Tennant.  I’m starting to watch season two, and every single episode just makes me love him more.  So overall, the Tenth & Eleventh Doctors are my favorites.  But this is just really bugging me, and I might sound stupid for asking this, but what the heck is the difference between “my Doctor” and “my favorite Doctor”?

Excited and Dreading

As i'm writing this, i'm supposed to be cleaning my room (*note "supposed").  I am taking a short break to go on Tumblr and such.  I have to clean/rearrange my room because I found out that i'm allergic to dust; and my room is full of it.  So I just finished cleaning out my drawers and closet.  I always have mixed feelings about rearranging my room:  I like it because I like the room to have a nice, new, clean look to it, and I like using my somewhat, not extremely impressive interior decorating skills to place things here, there, and everywhere.  I dislike it because I sneeze with all of the dust flying about, and i'm always afraid it will not get done before I go to bed; because I can't stand it when my room is messy and i'm trying to sleep.  Which, I guess, writing a new post isn't helping the matter, but I wanted to write, so here I am.  However, earlier, my mom and I were discussing where to put all of my crap, and she suggested that I put all of my books on a low shelf in the closet.  I told her, "No; this might sound a bit strange, but I'd rather have them on an open table, where I can clearly see them.  Because, for me, at least, my room seems so much more comforting when my books are in plain sight, and within easy reach."  "You're such a geek," she responded.  "No, " I said, "i'm a nerd." Big difference, mother.  Well, I have a room to clean, so i'll be back later.

Only Harry Potter Could Get Me This Excited

SO EXCITED
So, confession, I’ve been reblogging all this Harry Potter stuff on tumblr, and I haven’t even seen the movie yet. *sigh* I really wanted to go to the midnight premiere, but my aunt(who introduced me to Harry Potter) couldn’t get off of work, so we couldn’t see it, and I would never see it without her. So on Sunday morning, at nine-ish(dunno) i’m gonna see it, and i’m so ashfdlfjhdiflkdfj excited, but also really depressed, because it’s gonna be over :( On Saturday, i’m dying my hair red, painting my nails Hogwarts colors, and hopefully get a t-shirt at JCPenney today.  I’ll post some pictures for you guys when I get the chance (:  So this morning, I read some more of the Goblet of Fire(no, I haven’t read all of the books yet, only because I want it to last as long as possible…but it won’t take me too long to read them all because THEY’RE ALL SO EFFING GOOD), and at nine I watched Tom Felton on Regis and Kelly (: But either way, i’m gonna prepare on Saturday night, get ready on Sunday, see the movie, and cry and mope around and be all depressed for a couple of weeks.  I’ve only seen two Potter films in theatres(I was a late bloomer, sadly), but always, when I leave the theatre, I always have this magical and satisfied feeling in my entire body.  I distinctly remember when seeing Half-Blood Prince, I left the theatre and I just rambled the whole way home about how amazing it was, and “can I borrow your books?” and I can’t wait to see the other ones and just *blahblahblahramblerambleharrypotterrambleamazinglovemagiclalalalalovelyaaah*.
And when I saw Deathly Hallows part 1, we went to IHOP and I just sat there, eating my hash browns, and rambling some more(I’m a naturally quiet person, but I talk like there’s no tomorrow when I get excited)and staring dreamily out the window.  So now, in a couple of days, i’m gonna see the last movie, i’m gonna dye my hair red, paint my nails, and just other exciting stuff. (: So, yeah.  Can’t waaaiiit ♥
oh, and one of my friends made a Dobby tombstone shirt <3
one more thing, i’m so jealous of everyone who got to go to LeakyCon!
my tumblr: http://floralportraits.tumblr.com/ check it out and stuff, or not, whatever. (:

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green-review

Today I finished An Abundance of Katherines by John Green and it was absolutely wonderful.  It has a great story line, lovely characters, and it just, made me happy, I guess.  It made me laugh, literally, out loud, which doesn't usually happen when i'm reading.  Something else that usually doesn't happen, but did, was that this book made me think.  Actually put the book down momentarily, and think.  I'm not a math fan, but just from this book, I learned to appreciate it more, sort of.  Well, not really, but the equations and such added a nice touch to the story. To tell you the truth, I really don't want to give it back to the library(i'm cheap, sorry; hats off to you that bought the book).  But John Green has yet to disappoint me, and I can't wait to read his other works.  So overall, the book was very good, and I enjoyed it:  which is pretty much all I expect from a book.

p.s. sorry this review was sucky, I promise there will be better ones (:

Book(s) currently reading:  Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

First :D

Hellooo! Just thought I might take some time and sortof tell you what this whole "blog" thingy is gonna be about. Pretty much all of the posts are going to be talking about my life in some way, the things I like and care about, places I want to go, and books and movies and plays and just a whole mess of stuff; well, to sum it up, whatever the cheese noodles I want to talk about.  I'm also going to do a whole lot of book and movie reviews.  So that's 'bout it. Laters.

p.s. I came up with "Portraits of Flowers"  because I love photos/paintings, I love flowers, and well, the idea is actually inspired by the "portrait of a girl with flowers" in the Harry Potter movies, which you can read about here: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Portrait_of_a_girl_with_flowers
